Russia pulls out of ISS, American companies plan to step up

For over two decades, the International Space Station (ISS) has long been a room, board, and research hub for astronauts. Also, a symbol of the partnership between the United States and Russia.

The future of the floating laboratory is now in danger. After 2024, Russia will decide to leave the ISS and concentrate on developing its own orbital base.

After speaking with the Russian president, the space agency made the statement.

After speaking with the Russian president, the space agency made the statement.

"We must make a choice. Do we make a hasty endeavour to try to save the current ISS? I believe we can accomplish it rather fast, or perhaps we can aggressively advance the nation's programme to market space stations "said he.

The pressure is on, according to Ketcham, as the ISS is due to retire in 2030. In an effort to give the private sector time to take over, NASA intended to keep the ISS operating until 2030.

NASA has already awarded a few companies million-dollar contracts for the development of blueprints. Orbital Reef is a commercial space station created by Blue Origin and Sierra Space that they claim will function as a mixed-use business park in orbit.

Janet Kavandi, vice president of Sierra Space, stated that she believes a station may be built in less time than ten years.

According to NASA, Northrop Grumman, Axiom, and Nanorocks are more businesses developing their own floating laboratories.
